Comments
Skied Orca Bowl before and after the storm.
Last week there was widespread surface hoar on all sheltered slopes from the end of the road (1,300 m) to treeline (1,820m). The main slide path was wind effected/no surface hoar.
Today snow below 1,450 m was moist. HST gradually increased from 10 to 30 cm at treeline. The main slide path and all exposed slopes were wind effected, with 10-20 cm soft slabs. We experienced cracking on the small steep slopes/rolls we travelled across. There was evidence of a natural cycle to size 1.5 out of the upper slopes/cliff.
Test Profile, 1700 m, NE aspect, 30 degrees, HS 170 cm.
ECTP16 down 30 cm on 2-5 mm SH
