Comments
We headed up Lucille today to have a poke in the snow. Unfortunately there isn't much of it. It rained on us to 1700 m and the snow stayed moist to 1850 m. Above this the snowpack ranges from a mere 20 cm near the cabin to 70+ cm in wind loaded pockets. While these pockets have enough snow for some riding, they are also where we found evidence of reactive windslabs being formed by southerly winds. We tip toed our sleds around rocks and through Christmas trees to get some views but found the alpine looking a bit scoured. It's still early season out there!
