- 30cm + of new snow, or significant drifting, or rain in the last 48 hours.
- Rapid temperature rise to near or above 0°C or wet surface snow.
Comments
Rain at the trailhead, turning to mixed precipitation by ~1100m, resulted in significant glopping.
By 1400m snow was dense, but drier. Seemed to be accumulating right side up and bonding well to the previous surface.
Above 1500m there was 10-15cm of new snow on the old skin track. Ski penetration 25cm+ when breaking trail.
Winds generally light. Occasional gusts caused trees to shed. No notable wind slab development up to 1750m / 2:30pm. Some sluffing/loose dry during the descent. Not significant enough to be hazardous.
Observed a large bull moose at the intersection of Red Tree Road & Snake Bite.
