Forecast for Saturday: 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. PDT

There are no organized (i.e., well-developed) weather systems forecast for coastal BC this weekend however, general instability or weak upper-level disturbances caught in the westerly onshore flow may bring periods of cloud cover and very light, spotty precipitation to the mountains.

An upper low continues to move out of BC, taking its gusty winds and precipitation with it. Isolated flurries are possible in the far northern Rockies.

An upper trough passes through the central and southern interior Saturday afternoon, triggering isolated or scattered showers/alpine flurries and a minor risk of a thunderstorm.

Forecast for Saturday: 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. PDT

Some lingering weak instability will give light isolated flurries to some alpine areas this evening. 

A trough of low pressure passing through the BC/Alberta border will produce light precipitation over the North Rockies.

Forecast for Sunday: 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. PDT

The ridge of high pressure will begin to slowly weaken move eastwards through the day bringing increasing clouds to the Northwest ranges and sunny conditions for the south coastal and Vancouver Island ranges.

The weakening ridge will produce some instability over most of the Interior ranges. Can expect some alpine flurries in the afternoon with freezing levels near 2000 metres.

A Pacific frontal system arrives Sunday night and  remains over coastal BC on Monday giving moderate to heavy precipitation. The front weakens on Tuesday. 

Freezing levels will be in the 1000-1500 metres range.

The Pacific frontal system moves into the interior on Monday bringing the first round of widespread precipitation in awhile. The North Rockies down to Sun Peaks and Revelstoke look to benefit the most on Monday, with precipitation taking an extra day to get into the most southern areas.

The front exits BC on Tuesday. Instability behind the front will give light to moderate precipitation.

Freezing levels for all interior ranges follow a declining trend Sunday through early next week which means snow for upper elevations with Monday's storm.

A weakening front will give light snow to the White Pass on Monday while an upper trough will give flurries on Tuesday.  Total snowfall accumulations near 5 cm. Ridgetop winds moderate to strong southwest on Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures 2C to -6C.

The ridge over southern BC breaks down this weekend, and the atmosphere becomes unstable. Cloudy skies and showers/alpine flurries return to central and southern BC, accompanied by lowering freezing levels.

Widespread precipitation hits the Coast Mountain Range Sunday evening and moves into most Interior Ranges on Monday. It will be a stormy start to the week!
