Forecast for Today - 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. PST:

SW ranges: Periods of heavy snow will continue through the day today for the SW ranges; the snow will taper off for Vancouver Island by early afternoon and early evening for the South Coast ranges.

The Vancouver Island ranges will see an additional 10 to 15cm today with the higher amounts for the northwestern portion of the island. 

For the rest of the South Coast ranges, totals for the day are expected to be between 15 to 20cm. However, SW facing slopes from the Mt. Steele area through the North Shore could see between 20 to 30cm!

The strong to extreme SW winds will also begin to diminish by late in the afternoon.

Freezing levels will remain around 500m this morning and rising to around 1000m by this afternoon.

NW ranges: A chance of flurries for the NW ranges with freezing levels rising to near 500m by the afternoon. Strong SE winds this morning.

Snow and flurries for the interior ranges with sky rocketing freezing levels. By the afternoon the central and southern BC interior ranges will see freezing levels between 1200 to 1600m. Some ranges could see showers mixing in at the ridgetops.

Trace to light accumulations. Strong ridgetop SW winds.

The north Rockies will also experience strong ridgetop SW winds today and snow beginning in the afternoon. 

Mainly cloudy with a slight chance of light snow. Light northeast winds.

Forecast for Tonight - 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. PST:

SW ranges: Snow dissipating this evening with a few lingering flurries overnight.

Freezing levels will be around 400m by morning.

NW ranges: A few flurries continue with trace to light amounts. Freezing levels will hover near sea level by the morning. 

The very high freezing levels will fall slightly overnight to between 1000 to 1500m. 

Heavier snow will begin overnight for most of the central and southern interior ranges. Light to moderate amounts for the North Cariboos into the North Rockies ranging from 5 to 15cm.

The Monashees, Selkirks, and into the south Cariboos will see the highest amounts, ranging from 10 to 20cm

The Purcells will only receive trace to light amounts overnight. 

 Mainly cloudy with light snow and trace amount. Light northeast winds.

Forecast for Thursday - 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. PST:

SW ranges: Mainly cloudy with a few flurries beginning in the afternoon. Trace to light amounts.

Freezing levels will remain between 500 to 800m.

NW ranges: A few flurries continue for the NW ranges with trace to light amounts. Freezing levels rise to around 500m by the afternoon. 

Snow tapering off to flurries for the interior ranges by this evening.

The highest amounts will be for the Selkirks and Purcells. Between 15 to 25cm can be expected by the end of the day.  

Trend is for falling freezing levels for the the interior ranges by this evening. 

A ridge is strengthening over the Klondike area. Expect a mix of sun and cloud with light northeast winds.

Thursday night through Friday there will be a break in the action for most of BC.

Friday night and into Saturday a weak trough begins to impact the coast with more snow.

A potentially potent system takes aim at southwestern BC overnight Saturday into Sunday with the potential for large snow accumulations and very strong winds. 

Thursday night and through Friday a few flurries will linger over the interior ranges, especially southeastern BC. 

Friday night and into Saturday, flurries will amplify over the southern BC interior ranges.

Overnight Saturday and into Sunday the potent coastal system will push heavy snow into the central to southern BC interior ranges. 

For the end of the week, the ridge of high pressure continues to build from Yukon, bringing dry and partly cloudy conditions and falling temperatures. Light northeast winds for both days.

Low pressure with significant snow continues to push into the SW ranges.

Snow also tracks into the central and southern BC interior with high freezing levels today. 

Significant snow tracks into the southeastern BC ranges Thursday with a few lingering flurries for the rest of the ranges.

Friday is fairly dry for the province; a few flurries continue for the southern BC ranges.
