Reported Avalanches and Incidents

  • A climber was hit by an avalanche while leading during intense snowfall; debris continued for several minutes. The belayer, positioned behind the pillar, was buried to the chest as debris backfilled into the belay. The avalanche was estimated at size 2+/3 and would have had more serious consequences if the climber had been at the upper belay.

Other Comments

  • "Another beauty piece of ice in a huge zone. We did see debris almost to the tracks one time. We pick this outing for when avalanche danger is Low, Low, Low."
