Sponsors we all can count on
February 5 2018, Revelstoke, BC: For over 22 years, Marmot has supported public avalanche safety programs in Canada. Back in the 90s, Marmot supported the Canadian Avalanche Association (CAA), the professional avalanche organization. At that time, the CAA was the only organization providing public avalanche safety programs in Canada. Marmot also separately supported the charity work of the Avalanche Canada Foundation.
In 2004, Avalanche Canada was incorporated as Canada’s public avalanche safety organization. To this day, Marmot continues its support of the CAA, Avalanche Canada and the Avalanche Canada Foundation.
“For more than 40 years, Marmot has created products that help people get outside and enjoy the natural world with the equipment and knowledge to be prepared for all the elements,” said Deanna Fleming, Global Head of Sales for Marmot. “We are honored to support Avalanche Canada’s mission to promote safety in the mountains and know that our ongoing partnership will continue to spread awareness and education that enables everyone to safely enjoy the outdoors.”
Marmot’s commitment to public avalanche safety is an example for the outdoor industry. Early on, they recognized the value and importance of supporting both public and professional avalanche markets. They were the first to step forward in donating high-value Marmot products for the Foundation fundraisers. They were the first sponsor to support Avalanche Canada’s outreach events, such as Avalanche Awareness Days, held in some 30 communities in BC, Alberta, Yukon and Quebec. Today, Marmot product is featured throughout our events and their funding directly supports the delivery of our daily public avalanche forecasts.
Marmot supported us when we were newly established, well before our 3 million webpage views and thousands of social media followers. And with their steady funding, they helped us grow. They chose to support us because they believed in the value of our services to outdoor winter enthusiasts, when this group was a much smaller demographic than the mainstream market it is today.
We want our audiences to understand that our ability to deliver the safety programs and services backcountry users depend on, is because we are able to depend on Marmot. Next time you are shopping for outdoor gear, we encourage you to support our sponsors like Marmot—because they support you.
