$ 13.2K raised
The 10th Annual Canuck Splitfest presented by Trapper Snowboards was a fantastic event that raised $13,200 for Avalanche Canada. Since 2011, Canuck Splitfest, held in Revelstoke, BC, has raised over $74,000 for public avalanche safety programs. A huge thank you to all of the sponsors, volunteers, presenters, and supporters who helped with the fundraising efforts. Over 400 people from all over North America attended the Saturday night presentations, social, and raffle.
Presentations from Simon Horton of Avalanche Canada, Matt MacDonald of Environment Canada, Mike Wigley (aka Pow Slashing Wigley), and John Baldwin provided a great combination of technical and fun, sharing images and experiences of time well spent in the mountains. Mark Hartley of Stoke Roasted Coffee returned as our emcee. He kept everyone fired up with his beans, brew, and one-liners.

Adam Warkentin of Tradesman Manufacturing presented a heart-felt tribute to his friend, Wade Galloway, an avid splitboarder and founder of the Canuck Splitfest, who died in an avalanche in 2014. Adam announced a $10,000 donation to Avalanche Canada on behalf of Wade's father, Bill Galloway. Wade's legacy of community and giving back lives on.

With record breaking snow falls, Revelstoke's epic pow conditions did not disappoint with amazing turns to be had over the weekend. Sponsors and participants described the experience as a truly authentic backcountry event, with Revelstoke as a great location for the amazing snow and an abundance of touring possibilities.
The raffle had 29 prizes, with eight snowboards/splitboards up for grabs—one each from Trapper, Prior, Spline Snowboards, Libtech, Venture Snowboards, Weston Backcountry, Pallas Snowboards, and Chimera. Other prizes included a day of heli-skiing with Eagle Pass, gear from Arc'teryx, The North Face, Intuition Liners, Karakoram, K2, Phantom, and Spark R&D, plus a hut trip from Alpine Club of Canada, accommodation/lift ticket package from Revelstoke Mountain Resort/The Sandman, and tons of other prizes from the event sponsors.

Sponsors of the social included Mt. Begbie Brewery and Whitetooth Brewing. Tara Sutherland of Re/Max supplied the beverages, while The Village Idiot Bar and Grill donated the pizzas!
Special thanks to Sandman Hotel for providing special rates on accommodation for Splitfest attendees, who also received half-price lift tickets to Revelstoke Mountain Resort for the weekend. Many folks took full advantage of these great opportunities!
Please join us in thanking these event sponsors for helping raise money for public avalanche safety.
A huge thank you to the event organizers who put a ton of effort on their own time into this event every year: Emilie de Crombrugghe, Greg Fortier of Trapper, and the Revelstoke Snowboard Club.
We have already scheduled the 10th annual Canuck Splitfest for January 8-11, 2021 with more activities and an expanded format. See you in Revelstoke next year! Watch for updates on the Canuck Splitfest webpage.
