Commentaires
Skied and scrambled Mount Bourgeau yesterday (Feb 25) via Bourgeau Lake. The lower skin track was icy but 10-15cm of powder was found above the switchbacks where signs of foot travel petered out. The terrain above the lake was larger than I anticipated but manageable with no signs of instability. Some soft wind slabs were found overlaying hard wind crusts and could be suspect with future loading. We skinned to Harvey Pass where we ditched skis and bootpacked to the summit. Axes were useful for one section but neither boot or ski crampons were employed. A surprisingly fun bluebird day, with a stiff wind disguising the daytime warming.
