Psyched to see so many people out in the Sky Pilot basin area. We dug a pit just below the NE gulley on co-pilot (N aspect, 1800m) and did not see any reaction to an ECT. When we wrenched on the column we found a clean failure 25 cm down where all the light snow had piled up onto a harder 1F slab. This slab was 10cm thick and riding on a substantial layer of graupel (see picture). Ski cuts produced no further results.
We saw about 20-30cm of light powder all across the alpine with a few patches of wind affected chunkier snow.
