Commentaires
Spent three days at Kingsbury Hut. One hasty pit at 2500m on SE slope. HS 190cm, foot pen 20cm, ski pen 10cm. Rain crust present down 90cm, CTM planar down 30cm on facets, non planar break on rain crust on CTH. Snowpack well settled. Zero signs of instability was confidence inspiring and some big steep lines were skied.
Warm temperatures and sun in alpine (+5C) had formed a 15mm breakable suncrust on south, south west aspects. Numerous wet snow pinwheels observed from south facing rocky terrain.
NW - SE facing terrain has begun to facet during high pressure. Surface hoar is present and growing on sheltered aspects at tree line and below.
Next significant snowfall will be quite frightening as numerous new weak layers are waiting to be buried (suncrusts, surface hoar, and facets).
During flight in and return flight to Golden no new notable avalanche activity observed in Northern Purcells.
