Commentaires
Deep trail breaking today. 30-40cm of low density storm snow overlies a layer of 4F facets (Dec 13th layer), which overlies the Dec 7th crust down 60cm (more facets below). On the ski down we had a mix of deep sluffing (30cm) and small skier triggered slab avalanches about 30-40cm deep and maximum 15m wide on 40 degree rolls. We didn't take any photos, but they looked similar to Tristen's MIN photos from RMR. We looked a couple of times for the Dec 13th Surface Hoar (SH) but didn't see any. Not sure if the avalanches we had were failing on SH or facets, but probably facets as we were in pretty dense trees. Moist snow below 1200m. The alder wasn't too bad, it's starting to get pushed down by snow.
