We went out on High Alert this morning as we’ve been hearing a lot about touchy surface hoar down 50 to 70 cm. We saw a small portion of the Bijoux riding area and couldn’t find the surface hoar in our travels, but we did find fresh wind slabs that were sensitive to human triggering. We expect these to be an issue through the weekend. Plenty of good riding in the trees where the snow remains unaffected by wind. While we didn’t see the surface hoar today, we know it’s out there and we remain wary of big pieces of terrain, convex rolls and terrain traps like creeks and gullies.
