The stoke for urban riding has been amazing lately! Riverdale, Hidden Lakes, Clay Cliffs, and Quarantine Hill all have great powder and have seen some awesome action in the past few weeks!

That said, this slide on the Clay Cliffs is a great reminder for all of us that all of these spots have areas with potential for avalanches, up to and including sz 2 slides (can bury and kill a person).

Pair that with the fact that around town is still a fairly shallow snow pack with decent basal facets.

Make sure even if you’re right in the heart of downtown you’re taking the same precautions you would in the backcountry if you’re going to go for the steeper lines - ride with a buddy, bring your avy gear, and make sound choices.

Even if it feels silly cause you’re not “in the backcountry” - an avalanche doesn’t care how close to being able to get a latte.

Keep getting rad everyone - have fun, be safe!

(Date and time of slide are estimate - did not personally witness)
