What would you do for turns on VI? How far would you go?
We made an attempt at Klitsa Mountain, via the Nahmint Main, on a bluebird February day. And we went as far we could (with the time we had).
Access was clean and straightforward. We drove up to 700 m on a spur off the Nahmint Main. Snow coverage was patchy and mostly dirt thought the forest. We opted for soft boots and mountaineering gear. It was a classic Island approach to the Alpine, sweaty and muddy.
As soon as you get to 1000 m, 50-100 cm of isothermal snow made travel interesting. Shaded areas still had a supportive crust by late afternoon. There is snow up high to slide on, getting at it is the tricky part!
