Commentaires

Remote triggered a size 2.5 avalanche on the way to anniversary glacier at 8:00am on Monday November 24th. 100m wide, 1m deep crown, north aspect.

>30cm of fresh snow fell over Friday->Monday. Saturday we skied excellent conditions on the south aspect of Motel 66. South aspect hasty pit showed bomber, right side up snow pack.

Monday, we ventured further towards Anniversary Glacier. Climbing the ridge on the way there, we noticed a touch of wind affect. As the skin track approached the north aspect, a small, 1m wide 2” deep wind slab released. At the next kick turn approaching the north aspect, a few stomps remote triggered the steeper slope about 3m away, releasing the entire north aspect of the ridge.

We decided to call it there, and continued skiing excellent conditions on the south aspect of Motel 66.

No other signs of natural avalanches beside one potential very small crown seen on the east face of Joffre.

Currently, it’s a hike all the way to the hut. But great skiing at elevations above the hut.
