The -22 overnight is not helping the new snow stick! Started to get lots of whumpfing around 16-1700m, stopped to dig a pit to check out the storm snow/crust/surface hoar interface. Storm snow had settled to about 65cm, total snowpack varied between 80cm and 100cm. Got sudden planar compression test results, with the new snow sliding on the crust/hoar at M11, on a SE aspect. Also the rutschblock failed as soon as the skier was approaching, very quick and sudden planar. Decided not to go to the summit based on these conditions. Continued up the trees on more of a SW aspect and dug another pit with results in the CTM15 range, still SP. cautiously skied the trees down and ended up triggering this small slab from below, amongst the alders, well below any of the larger start zones on the mountain
