New Snow at Log Cabin

Today we rode at Log Cabin Meadows. We received 40 cm of low-density snow the previous night at tiny town that made for soft riding conditions. Even with all the new snow the snowpack is still below average for this time of year and we were getting stuck on small trees and stumps as the sleds punched through to the base of the snowpack.

We briefly had some visibility in the afternoon and noticed a windslab avalanche that released just above treeline at 1300 m on at North Aspect.

We assume that a natural avalanche cycle took place over the previous 24 hours.

Snow continued throughout the day with another 5-10 cm.
