Commentaires
Spectacular day of riding up Renshaw, with the sun coming out around noon to make it a bluebird powder day. Overall, the new storm snow seemed to be sticking pretty well. The exceptions were steep, north through east faces in the alpine - especially below cornices. We saw many avalanches on those types of slopes – most were quite small and only around 15cm deep, but there were two exceptions where we saw avalanches large enough to bury or kill someone. There was plenty of great, (and much safer!) riding to be found on other slopes. We also saw a couple of burly “wet” avalanches that had come down yesterday during the rain – one which just stopped shy of the access road at 2km. Luckily with the cooler temperatures that particular avalanche problem seems to have disappeared for now, leaving a thick hard rain crust on the surface at lower elevations.
