Commentaires
Overnight trip to Mt Outram.
Skinnable snow started at 1400m. Snow was very variable:
-in trees snow was frozen over and hard - survival skiing
-in sheltered areas at tree line powder could be found in pockets
- open and sun exposed slopes had 0.5inch of loose snow on a 2" crust with loose unconsolidated snow underneath. The crust was breaking apart. Some areas had pockets of powder.
- In the transition from treeline to alpine we got shooting cracks that propagated 2 to 3m (see picture)
- snow in the alpine was extremely thin with rocks pocking out and highly wind affected (see picture)
