Avalanche Canada is hosting webinars through this season. We have presentations focusing on various aspects of avalanche safety, beneficial for all backcountry recreationists. The webinars are free, but pre-registration is required. Links to register for these events will become available a few weeks prior to each webinar.

These live webinars will be held on Wednesday evenings (7–8 pm Pacific Time), but all of them will be recorded and made available from our website after the event if you are unable to attend.

Wed. Oct. 29: Recognizing Avalanche Terrain and Trip Preparedness. Are you new to the backcountry or looking for a refresher? We focus on the basics of avalanche terrain, how to recognize and avoid avalanche terrain, what equipment is needed and what resources are available. Join our Avalanche Canada forecaster to decipher the nuances of terrain, recognize hazards and help you safely route-find on your adventures this season. Wed. Nov. 5: When Minutes Matter: Companion Rescue Skills. Join us this evening to learn about the essential gear required when you head into the backcountry; learn how to use it and why it's important to hone these skills. Wed. Dec. 10: Avalanche Safety for Hikers. Are you a hiker, runner, or snowshoer who loves to head out in the winter? Join us this evening as we bring experts from Parks Canada, Kananaskis Country, and Avalanche Canada to discuss a couple of "hot spots" in each region and provide tips on staying safe this winter.
