Avalanche conditions

• Slab avalanches today or yesterday.
• Rapid temperature rise to near or above 0°C or wet surface snow.

Sunny and mostly calm in the morning then the winds picked up in the afternoon, moving snow around at treeline and above. We travelled far today and saw lots of terrain with only a couple of small slabs failing on steep solar aspects in the alpine and widespread wet loose avalanches up to size 1.5 from steep, rocky features in the sun. Cornices look big and will me worth avoiding when it gets even warmer. The temperatures were cold but the sun is packing a punch now!

We accidentally triggered a small slab in the recent snow on a steep sunny slope. Our habit of only exposing one person at a time paid off though, so the potential consequence was small.
