Comments

Tenquille lake Dec 20,21,22,23. 20-30cm fresh snow each day interspersed with periods of no/little precip. Cloudy. Daytime temps @1650m avg -3 - -5c. Moderate to strong SW winds. Snow above treeline wind affected, slabby. BTL dry and loose.

No signs of recent natural avalanches. Small dry loose slides skiier triggered on >35° unsupported micro terrain S aspects ~1850m. Small 10cm wind slab skiier triggered on >35° convex micro terrain NE aspect ~1850m.

Dec 22: ~1850m NNE aspect, 11:30am. 320cm to ground. Poorly defined layer ~15cm down ct 6. Wind pressed weak layer found ~40cm down ct 16.

Dec 23: ~1950m S aspect, 2:45pm. 250cm to ground. Poorly defined layers 20, 30cm down ct 14, 16. Cleaner layer 50cm down, ct 23. Hard icy layer ~120cm down, no compression test results but failed dramatically when skiier bouncing/jumping hard on-top of pit. Pictured.
