Comments

Today, we went to Core Lodge. Due to weather station maintenance, we had limited time to tour the zone. We saw very little snow available for transport in the exposed alpine and treeline elevations. Windslabs remain a concern. These can be found in lee features where the wind has deposited the snow. The shallower snow depth (around 85 cm in sheltered areas) and colder temperatures promote faceting (sugary snow crystals). This may become a concern when we get another load of snow. For now, the best riding is found in the sheltered meadows where the snow is still soft.
