Comments
We spent the day cruising around the Lumberton trail network with our end destination being Heaven Lake.
As we moved around the terrain we saw no new avalanches. The day was warm, with a daytime high of 0 and calm wind. There was just enough cloud cover throughout the day to keep the surface of the snow cool and dry. We found 15 -20 cm of soft snow overlying the previous hard crusty surface. At higher elevations the soft snow had been redistributed by wind. There was evidence of buried surface hoar underneath the newer soft snow. Knowing that, we stayed off steep alpine slopes.
There was great coverage right from the staging area. Thanks Cranbrook Snowmobile club, the trails are in great shape!
