Map for Mountain Information Network report: Koko Kruizin

We returned to Mear Lake today and went for a ski tour up to ridgeline! There was thin high cloud all day long, mixed with some chilly light wind, which kept the suns warmth from having much effect on the snow surface. It was -6 at the truck this morning, -4.5 at 2100 m, and +2 at the truck this afternoon.

We spent the day travelling different aspects and elevations verifying the forecast. We were not able to identify any avalanche problems in the area! Surface conditions are variable, wind affected up high, crusty on solars, and some preserved ankle deep faceted snow in sheltered polar areas that made for some fun wiggles! Surface hoar has developed over the past few days and is widespread in this location about 6mm in size.

Access from Koko Claims staging was some of the best we have seen recently and had no issues keeping the machines cool! Shout out to the Elkford Snowmobile Club for all the hard work tuning up the trail network!!
