Wet Spring Pow 🌞

• Rapid temperature rise to near or above 0°C or wet surface snow.

We made our way up the Asulkan Valley around 9:00 a.m. the plan was to make it towards the Dome. First, the first switchbacks from the parking lot needed to be hiked, but the rest could be skied with only one or two two sections near the avalanche ranch that we needed to take our skis off.

Travel was a little slow through the mouse trap due to the debris from the March event. We made it to one of the moraines just below the Dome and skied down towards the valley. There was about 10 to 15 cm of wet pow on top of a crust. We skipped the mouse trap on the ski out and had to down climb a section but the rest was very easily managed.
