Comments
Today we went up the fingers to the microwave. This route has seen some serious traffic lately and is a little whooped up. The visibility was terrible for most of the day but we still managed to crawl over to the cabin and the slopes around it. It snowed on us most of the day and the wind was moderate from the SW.
We dug on a north aspect at 1650 m and found the Jan 26 Facet/ Melt Freeze Crust down 90 cm still producing moderate sudden planar results in compression tests.
We saw no new avalanches today, but we didn't see much at all. We did notice some cracking in the snow especially where wind loaded.
