Comments
Tour around the Wendy Thompson hut / Marriot Basin. Dug a pit @ 1900m, E aspect. Observed a right side up snowpack, crust/Facet combo was noted approx 1 meter down and did not respond to a ECT test. Facets above the PWL were starting to round.
Observed some large old crowns, most likely from previous storm cycle. Otherwise covereage was better then expected, we still chose conservation lines in shelteted terrain given the PWL problem.
Weather was cold to start, -17, nil wind, warming up throughout the day to -3 by the afternoon. Bluebird to start with increasing clouds, snow started around 4:30 with winds increasing to strong. Noticed considerable wind transport on ridgetops by 2pm.
