Comments
Travelled very deep into the zone today. We noted that all aspects in alpine were wind affected in all directions. We dug a test profile at 2300 meters at a sheltered 27 degree North aspect, we were surprised to find the surface hoar layer of 58cm. testing showed repeated sudden collapsed results including full propagation of our extended column test. After testing, we were unable to cause a failure with our snowmobile directly above our test pit. We pushed into large terrain today, and saw zero recent avalanche activity.
