The late Nov surface hoar layers. These were less than 10 cm apart in this snowpit. 150 cm in the Shootout area of the telkwas.

Today we rode in the Telkwas. Snow coverage is good here, with anywhere from 125-180cm of snow where we probed today. We dug several snowpits and found the November surface hoar anywhere from 50-70 cm below the snow surface. In compression tests, we were getting moderate results. The alpine was wind-scorred here, but sheltered places at treeline were still holding good snow. We observed an old cornice-triggered avalanche from greater than 72 hours ago.
