Comments

sheltered trees provided the best riding today. Alpine over 1500m was highly wind effected and not pleasant skiing. Day started off bluebird but turned to white out ans stormy by 2pm. Probed 260cm HS. With 40-60cm of storm snow sitting on a very firm pencil crust. Dug a quick pit on a NW aspect @ 1500m, 25 degree slope. Hand shear resulted in a very planar shear about 30cm down, 10cm above the rain crust. Some type of density change was not bonding well to storm snow. Layers are visible in photo. Warmed up at end of day, was raining and snowing during the exit at 1100m.
