Comments
Skied a few steep north facing chutes (Toilet Snake, Fat Boy and Toblerone) in the slackcountry of Kicking Horse today. Nearly 15 cm refresh from the last two days with some windloading (moderate from the east) made for excellent conditions in the sheltered north facing terrain with 20-30cm ski penetration. Very little cracking noticed with 20-30cm soft slabs mostly limited to the very top. While the guts were excellent, old debris could be felt on the lower half of most fans. Minimal sloughing. Small pockets of 15cm deep soft slabs could be triggered on the Jan 27 SH. This will inevitably turn into a layer of concern once the next storm rolls in.
