Comments
We skinned up to treeline before skiing the burn trees lookers right of the main avy path, then coming into the main path and skiing it lower down. No signs of instability on the way up. Small amount of sluffing on crusty layer up top. 10cm fresh on top of the day before’s snow, with another 5 falling while we were there (left around noon). Lower half of path is very tracked out, but the refresh provided excellent floaty turns despite previous days activity. Turns in the burn trees were untracked powder, about 30cm on top of a crust. This crust was present around the top of treeline, likely wind effect from the last event. While we were transitioning the forecasted winds started to pick up, making obvious wind effected features on the Lee side of trees (around 2400m). Skiing a few hundred meters down, wind was no longer present.
Only a few parties out today. Lower skin track is janky at best, numerous different ones crossing through very tracked terrain. Sporty! Also, numerous snow pits dug in the trees that were not filled in after the fact, potentially hazardous for parties skiing down.
Great day all around!
