Comments
Slow snow, just like the bulletin says. Winds were light from the North, and temps were cold, -16c at midday. We didn’t observe any wind slabs, but the cold and wind has tightened the powder into heavier snow and somewhat upside down. We got easy hand shears, including blocks sliding out while being isolated in open alpine terrain, but did not get any cracking, whomphing or any slab propogation while doing ski tests/cuts on small features. Though we didn’t go looking for wind slabs either...
Most of the main Hero’s Knob line is now fairly tracked. Future ski tourers may have to be more creative, though hopefully not more bold, to get fresh tracks. Watch for the old avalanche debris at the bottom. It’s best avoided by going skiers right.
Hopefully Santa brings more snow.
