Comments

A good day wandering around in the fog at Green Mountain. Skied between 1650m and 2100m in the meadows on the southeast shoulder. HS is approximately 60-75cm, depending on wind exposure. About 30cm HST over faceted old snow, surface hoar and crusts on solar terrain. Surface above about 2050m is cakey and wind effected. Good skiing lower down in sheltered terrain with smooth ground cover.

Observed a few recent avalanches (HST running on old snow) on cut banks while sledding in /out on Birk Ck road (1300-1500m), and a few whumpfs around 1950m where surface snow was wind effected.

Previously (Nov 13) had observed 30-40mm surface hoar over extensively faceted snow and crust on southerly terrain. Surface hoar was largest between 1400 and 1800m. Above 2000m surface hoar was not evident at that time.
