  • Whumpfing or drum-like sounds or shooting cracks.
Easy sudden collapse results in the Dec 31 facets/surface hoar layer down 35 cm. The layer is mainly weak facets. The surface hoar was decomposing and hard to find, but still present. Lots of wind affect in the alpine with a few whumpfs in the wind-affected terrain.
