Comments
NE aspect ~1250 m toward Pump Peak at 08:30 (-2°C). ~105 cm total snow. Top 10–20 cm recent storm snow sheared easily (4 wrist taps) with crumbling fracture at ~20 cm, no propagation. 55–80 cm hard melt-freeze crust. No whumpfing or cracking while traveling. Lower elevations firm/icy; snow softer higher up. Turned around ~3/4 up due to mediocre conditions. Likely shallow storm slab (Size 1) in isolated wind-affected pockets.
