Interesting snowpack results on Friday. Some failures above the January crust on surface hoar, and some below it in facets - see picture. In some places the crust is weakening. Extended column test produced mostly easy results that propagated quickly. Also noticed the overlying slab is quite variable depending on aspect (exposure to sun). Our main concern was steep open slopes below treeline with terrain traps. Definitely a weakness to keep an eye on as it gets buried...
