Comments
We skinned up to Upper Joffre Lake, intending to ski the simple terrain at the south end of the lake. Once we got there, we realized it was very wind affected with a cracking crust, so we skied down our skin track and headed home. We saw 3 nearby steeper slopes (east side of Upper Joffre) with clear signs of recent size 1-2 avalanche activity. The ski out actually had some really nice powder, despite requiring tight turns in dense forest to descend the hiker’s trail. All 3 lakes were nicely frozen and easily traversible.
