Mt.Keenan Sz2 Wet Loose

Riding quality was:

Terrible

Snow conditions were:

• Crusty
• Heavy

We rode:

• Dense trees
• Mellow slopes

We stayed away from:

• Alpine slopes
• Steep slopes
• Sunny slopes

The day was:

• Cloudy
• Sunny
• Warm

Avalanche conditions

• 30cm + of new snow, or significant drifting, or rain in the last 48 hours.
• Rapid temperature rise to near or above 0°C or wet surface snow.

Snow had icy crust in the morning which quickly warmed and softened. In morning, select open glades did have 3-5mm Surface Hoar. Snowshoe day in trees and looking at a Size 2 natural Wet Loose avalanche debris in the North Bowl of Mt. Keenan (beside Sasquatch Mountain Resort).

Height of Snow ranged from 120-200cm in the trees at 1050-1150m.

Snowpack is fully saturated with lots of rain runnels.
