Comments
Riding in the Barnes/Limestone area for a AST 2 course. Saw several fresh wind slabs in steep north and east facing alpine terrain. Also saw one size 1 sled triggered slab in below treeline terrain around 1950m. Suspect it failed on surface hoar. We dug several snow pits around 1800m on a south facing slope and found a layer of surface hoar over a hard crust down 80cm that was propagating with moderate taps in extended column tests.
