Comments
It was a cold day with light north winds in the White Pass but the visibility was good as the sun was able to shine through thin, high cloud. As expected, exposed features are heavily wind affected but sheltered bowls, gullies, and avalanche paths held good quality snow. We dug a test pit at upper tree line in this northeastern zone of White Pass and found a shallower and more faceted snowpack than other locations but we got no results in snowpack tests. That being said, we managed the slope with good spacing and communication due to the shallow and weak snowpack structure and we were rewarded with great powder turns from ridge to creek.
