Comments
Checked out the Silverdaisy area after the Christmas/Boxing Day storm. We were able to skin right from the pull-out/parking area off Highway 3 (at 850m), although conditions were thin and icy here. Snow quality improved dramatically at about 1000m once we hit the fresh storm snow. Broke trail most of the way up the FSR to ski the cut block.
Confirmed avi forecast conditions on the south-facing cut block intersected by the FSR: snow depth alternated from very thin to very thick as we moved through scoured and deposit areas. Cut block is mostly filled in for riding, but definitely some holes and drops you'll want to avoid. Observed no signs of avalanches throughout the day.
The ski down the FSR was pretty reasonable until about 2km from the car, where it was thin and terrible, but we managed to narrowly avoid a bootpack.
