Comments
MAT course today at Sterling. Sledded through the Walls to the bottom of Portuguese Hill. Spent the day sled lapping protected slopes in the Walls/Portuguese area. Rode convex slopes up to 38 degrees. Saw lots of wind loading with moderate to strong NE winds and so spent most our time avoiding wind loaded slopes.
Triggered a size 1 avalanche in a small wind loaded roll at TL on a NW aspect near The Walls. Observed 2 natural windslab avalanches on the headwall of Portuguese Hill size 1.5 and 2; likely from today.
