Comments

Nice day out on Myra - winter above 1000m on north aspects, spring most other aspects. Approached directly via E Tennent creek. Warming trend through morning and early afternoon with significant solar effect early on. Thankfully high cloud developed that calmed the sun's input up high quite dramatically.

10-15cm new snow from yesterday's small storm was sitting on a soft crust at TL and above. Non wind affected terrain was stable with steep slopes skinned without any issue. 2 small N facing wind affected test slopes at ridge crest released, one remotely from near its base. A little more touchy than we'd expected.

We altered our plans to ski higher north facing terrain with wind affected entry as the wind slabs built yesterday hadn't settled yet, and/or were perhaps re-energized by the warming temps as the day went on. Had a nice ski out similar to our approach line.
