Snowmobiler Justin Boehm uses Al Hodgson Memorial Scholarship funding to complete professional avalanche training
Justin Boehm was chosen as the recipient of this year’s Al Hodgson Memorial Scholarship. He used the funding to complete the Canadian Avalanche Association’s Avalanche Operations Level 2 (Snowmobile) course this winter. He completed module three at the end of January 2020.
“I feel great satisfaction and privilege to be among a small handful of sledders to complete this level of training. This was one of the most challenging and stressful weeks of my career,” he related. “We had six sled-specific students that bonded well through this entire Level 2 process, which created a great support system for everyone on and off the mountain.
Justin hopes to start shadowing sled-specific Avalanche Operations Level 1 courses and adds, “This new certification will help me continue my passion for avalanche education by offering more courses.”
