8th Annual Canuck Splitfest

The 8th Annual Canuck Splitfest presented by Trapper Snowboards on Jan 14, was a fantastic event that raised $12,600 for Avalanche Canada's public avalanche safety programs. A huge thank you to all of the sponsors, volunteers, presenters, and supporters who helped with the fundraising efforts. Over 400 people from all over North America attended the Saturday night social, raffle, and presentations and there were over 150 in attendance at the Trapper BBQ Open House on Friday night. Presentations from Joe Lammers of Avalanche Canada, Justin Sweeny of Arc'teryx,

Greg Hill, and Mike Wigley (aka Pow Slashing Wigley) were about exploring the mountains in the winter on a method of travel that challenges and brings great joy. Our amazing MC was Mark Hartley of Stoke Roasted Coffee - keeping everyone fired up with his beans and brew.

The raffle prizes had 5 splitboards, one each from Trapper, Olive, Prior, Libtech and Venture. Other prizes included a day of heli skiing, jackets, bindings, boots, backpacks, avalanche gear, and tons of other gear from the event sponsors.

The tradeshow was well attended with reps from Trapper, Prior, Venture, Olive, K2, Splitboard HQ, Intuition, and CAPOW with many demo boards available.

Sponsors of the social included Mt Begbie Brewery, Whitetooth Brewing, Tara Sutherland of Royal LePage, and Mackenzie Peak Law supplied the beverages, and The Village Idiot Bar and Grill donated all 20 pizzas!
