Try the new Avalanche Canada beta app

Help us build the next generation of our mobile app by trying out an early beta version. We want to co-create it with you to ensure it is the best it can be.

Avalanche Canada has just launched an early beta version of our new mobile app and we are inviting the public to try it out and provide feedback. We aim to to co-create it with users to ensure it is the best it can be.

This new app introduces a place-based search, designed to make it easier to plan a trip to a specific location. Instead of hunting around a map, you can search for a place and quickly see the avalanche information that’s most relevant there.

In this beta you’ll find:

  • Avalanche forecasts in a new mobile-friendly format
  • Simplified, photo-first Mountain Information Network trip reports
  • A workflow designed to help you quickly find the information you need for a particular destination

You can still use a map view if that’s your preferred way to explore information.

We’re releasing this beta now so we can learn from real users. The feedback we receive this spring will help shape the production version of the app, planned for Fall 2026, along with additional features.

Please keep in mind that we haven't implemented the full set of features, but people can be sure that weather stations and other info they are used to seeing will be part of the app.

As you try the app, we’d especially like to know:

  • Does the place search work the way you expect?
  • Is it easy to find the information you need for a trip?
  • What feels confusing or frustrating?

Honest feedback is incredibly helpful at this stage, so please don’t hesitate to tell us if something isn’t working the way you expect.

You can submit feedback directly inside the app, so please download the beta, use it while planning trips this spring, and let us know what you think.

Thanks for helping us improve Avalanche Canada’s tools.
