Free Companion Rescue practice sessions, Jan. 20, Whistler

Refresh and practice those important companion rescue skills with Mountain Skills Academy and Adventures, Jan. 20. FREE!

Mountain Skills Academy and Adventures is celebrating Avalanche Awareness Days by offering free sessions on companion rescue to the public. Schedule includes 2 courses in the morning (8:30 am) and 2 in the afternoon (12:30 pm). AST 1 is a prerequisite. These courses are ideal for those who want to refresh their companion rescue skills and practice together!

We will practice on the Whistler Mountain.

Morning session:

Meeting time: 8:30 am

Meeting location: Alpine Demo Centre (map here) it is the NEW Escape Route shop in the Village

After meeting, we will go to the practice site together.

 

Afternoon session: 

Meeting time: 12:30 pm 

Meeting location: Whistler Mountain Light board (map here)

After meeting, we will go to the practice site together.

 

Pre-registration required. The registering options are listed below.

 

What is not included: (the participants must have, bring own equipment or ensure to rent in advance)

  • Lift tickets (can be arranged in advance through us to purchase)
  • Ski or snowboarding gear (downhill equipment is OK, rentals available through ADC with 20% discount)
  • Transceiver, shovel and probe (rentals available through ADC with 20% off discount)

Participants meet the instructors ready to ski (downhill set up is OK)

Participants require to bring own avy kits (shovel, transceiver, and probe), rentals available at ADC (20% discounts available)

Participants require own lift tickets.
