Enjoy Canada's beautiful winter landscape and learn how to stay safe from avalanches. There are a variety of events happening across western Canada and Quebec. Check out an event near you!

  • Alberta Parks, Winter Safety Day, Saturday, January 20. Burstall Pass, 11 am - 3 pm. Avalanche safety workshops, activities and information. Bring warm clothes and a travel mug.
  • Apex Mountain Resort, Saturday Jan. 27. 10am-3pm Avalanche Info Tent; 12pm-1pm BBQ in Apex Village; 3pm-5pm Silent and live auction in the Gunbarrel Saloon
  • Banff Centre, Max Bell Auditorium, January 16, 7 pm. Come out for a fun evening of films and presentations.
  • BC Parks, Sea-to-Sky, Red Heather Hut, Garibaldi Park, January 20-21. Join BC Parks Rangers to test your avalanche awareness and safety skills, with the chance to win some great prizes!
  • BC Parks, N. Shore (Seymour and Cypress). Please note this event has been cancelled due to poor weather and the snowpack situation. It maybe be re-scheduled.
  • Fernie Alpine Resort, Jan. 20-21. Come on out for two great days of fun with an avalanche dog demonstration, a transceiver training demonstration and a charity auction.
  • Fernie Snowmobile Association at Rolling Hills Cabin (Coal Creek), January 20. This event will pair up with Demo Days. Check the link for more details.
  • Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, Golden, BC. Jan. 20-21. We will be in Crystal Bowl all weekend on January 20th & 21st with various activities going on.  Look for the Kicking Horse Arch and Tent in Crystal Bowl!
  • Kimberley Alpine Resort, rescheduled for a later date. Enjoy a day of fun, education, and hands on demonstrations with the Kimberley and Cranbrook Search and Rescue. Get informed and drop by the Kimberley Alpine Resort Plaza for Avalanche Awareness Day!

  • Marmot Basin, Jasper, AB, January 20. Info booth, transceiver/probe practice, talks about avalanche safety, CARDA search demo and explosive demos. Fun for all!
  • Mt. Washington, Feb. 4. Postponed due to lack of snow. Stay tuned for a new date (do your snow dances...)
  • Lake Louise, January 27-28. This year's event will focus on sign recognition and will be held at the base area and on the back side at Larch & Ptarmigan base. Learn the signage... stay safe!
  • Panorama, Feb. 22 and 24. Join the Panorama Ski Patrol on Feb. 24 with different activities on the hill. There will be a transceiver competition and a snow profile demo. Come on out and hone your skills! On Feb. 22, there will be an avalanche-themed trivia night at the Jack Pine pub, 7 pm. Join the fun --- you might win a prize!

  • Rossland, Red Mountain, March 2. Rossland Search and Rescue (RSAR) is hosting Backcountry Awareness Day on Saturday, March 2 at Red Mountain Resort. Anyone interested in winter recreation is invited to learn about:
    -       What to do if you are lost in the backcountry, including how to build a snow shelter and a fire on snow;
    -       Backcountry first aid basics – what to do if yoBackcountry first aid basicss injured;
    -       Avalanche rescue skills, including practice in transceiver, probe and rescuAvalanche rescue skills;
    -       Avalanche safety courses – what’s available, what you will learn and how to access courses in our Avalanche safety courseshe snowpack – what is going on in our snowpack and how to assess slopes.
  • Terrace, Shames Mountain, Northern Backcountry Connection. Jan. 19-21.
  • Sunshine Village, Banff, March 8 - 10. 10 am - 4 pm. BCA Avy Days: 3 days of on-mountain and virtual activities promoting snow safety, brought to you by Back Country Access, Avalanche Canada, and Banff Sunshine Village.
